Young LeBron James NBA rookie record setter and local hero, is going for the gold again in by playing with the U.S. national team in next month's FIBA America's Tournament, to attempt to qualify for the 2008 Olympics. If successful this will be the second trip to the Olympics for this young superstar, he participated in the 2004 games and sports a Bronze Medal already.
LeBron a local Akron, Ohio player has what it takes! King James has a professional rap sheet that rates up there with Jordan's.
- He was the number 1 overall draft pick in the 2003 NBA draft, straight out of high school.
- He set a record by being one of only 3 rookies ever in the NBA to average a minimum of 20 pts., five rebounds, and five assists in one season. Rubbing shoulders with 2 other great NBA stars Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan, previous record setters.
- He was the youngest player ever to compete for the US men's basketball team in the Olympics.
- LeBron was the youngest NBA player to score over 1000 pts. a single season, and most points scored in the NBA by a teenager with 2,362 points.
- He was the youngest player in the history of the NBA to be chosen Rookie of the Year in 2004, and to date the only Cleveland Cavalier to ever achieve the title.

- 12/2003 LeBron dropped in at Ed Davis Community Center in Cleveland, sweatshirts along and $50 gift cards for K B Toys to more than 100 kids who play basketball in the Tiny Tots league at the center.
- 9/2005 LeBron donated 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies to area youngsters in Akron and Cleveland through his non-profit James Family Foundation and in partnership with Target. LeBron personally distributed the supplies at two locations on September 2nd.
- Perhaps his most well know community event is the LeBron James’ Bikeathon. Schwinn Bicycles co-sponsors the LeBron James "King for Kids" Bikeathon in Akron, Ohio. The event benefits the James Family Foundation, the proceeds also benefit the YMCA and the Urban League. Celebrities & donors will ride with LeBron in an 8 mile bike ride through downtown Akron.
